New Bride's Cooking WebSite Launches (LINK)

February 8th 2008 05:57
(OPENPRESS) February 5, 2008 -- Cookbook author, Nancy Geiger, announces the launch of her website, www.abridescookbook.com, which has the same name as her cookbook, ‘A Bride’s Cookbook or Surviving the First Year’.

“There was so much information, I didn’t have room for in my cookbook,” Geiger said, “that I decided to build a site around it. The site is really like an online cookbook, but much more.”

While the content isn’t the same as what’s in A Bride’s Cookbook, the topics covered are. Some of these include: meals for two, romantic dinners, entertaining easily and inexpensively, healthy eating, meal planning, stocking your cupboards, food safety and food storage.

“People today rush through meals or eat out to save time.” Geiger says, “Eating at home as a couple (and eventually a family) is a chance to relax and connect. To build bonds and share. When we don’t do this, families are fragmented, we don’t eat as healthy and we eat too much: too much sodium, too much fat and just plain too much food.”

Fast food, huge restaurant portions and eating on the fly have created a fat and unhealthy America, Geiger believes. Her website is meant to show not only brides, but anyone, how simple it is to plan and cook easy healthy meals and how much fun it is to entertain at home.

“I want this to be a helpful resource for people, just like my book.” Geiger said, “To have information all in one place that homemakers (whether a single person who lives alone, a new bride just learning to cook or a busy mom of a large family) can find fast. Like a calorie chart! I searched all over the internet for a simple chart that showed the calories of basic foods. I wanted something on one page I could see at a glance. And couldn’t find it. So I have one of those on my site.”

Daisy-Dot Launches Website (LINK)

February 7th 2008 05:49
(OPENPRESS) February 7, 2008 -- Introducing Daisy-Dot.com, which is a new web site for unique gifts and accessories for women and girls. Daisy-Dot focuses on preppy accessories for teen and preteen girls who love to play sports such as lacrosse, tennis, field hockey and basketball. Daisy-Dot has taken sports themes and made them cute, pretty and preppy for young women.

Daisy-Dot is owned and operated by three moms who among them have eight daughters who love to play sports and lead an active lifestyle. The founders were disappointed that blue and black colors tend to dominate girls sportswear and accessories. “Daisy-Dot has now filled a void in the sportswear industry since most sports apparel and sports accessories companies focus on males,” says Kim, one of Daisy-Dot’s owners. “Girls can now dress and look feminine while style looking sporty,” adds Kim.

Daisy-Dot’s products are bright and fun, with focus on pinks and greens. For example, Daisy-Dot carries bright, fitted t-shirts for lacrosse and soccer, along with capri pants in fun colors. “My daughter loves the monogrammed ribbons and pony tail ties to make her outfits complete” raves Chrissy of Villanova, PA.

Gift products include lap desks, key chains, beaded sports bracelets, earring screens and sports blankets. Diane of Radnor, PA says, “Now I can go online and find the perfect and unique birthday gift for my daughter’s friends.” A popular seller for young girls is the quilted overnight bag and cosmetic case.

For the trendy mom, Daisy-Dot carries colorful, insulated, striped cooler totes to take to the games, and insulated cooler tubs for the home. These items are functional, yet fashionable. Monogramming is available for the mom or daughter who wants to make a Daisy-Dot item even more unique.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Daisy-Dot products will also appeal to husbands, fathers and boyfriends who are looking for the perfect gift for their sweetheart.

Daisy-Dot is based on the Main Line of the Philadelphia, PA suburbs.

According to theromantic.com, one of the LEAST romantic days of the year is Valentine's Day. Yes that's what they claim. They state that "the majority of men act like robots, purchasing flowers and chocolate for their sweethearts because that is what everyone else is doing. Many people celebrate the day out of obligation rather than celebration".

Relief is in site, however! They list some ways to celebrate Valentine's Day a bit more romantically and creatively. Also check out their ideas on creative Valentine's Cards and their selection of Valentine's recipes, trivia, clip art, games and more

If you’re one of those last minute shoppers, you might be spending the next few days out looking for holiday gifts. Just about anyone would be grateful for good old-fashioned skin care products but, this year, opt for natural skin care that will really make a difference. In fact, you can even make them yourself with one ingredient you’re sure to have around – cranberries. Here are a few ideas you can cook up in your kitchen.

Why are skin care products with cranberries such a great gift? While cranberries aren’t quite a superfood, their high phytonutrients and antioxidant content makes them an ideal ingredient for skin care products. They help prevent bacterial build up in the body and on the skin, and the antioxidants fight free radicals – one of the major causes of aging. Getting a free radical treatment with these recipes will be like going to the spa

I had seen these on some photo processing sites, and I thought, "I could make that!"

Wasn't difficult, just used a photo printed on my own printer, and ModPodge as a sealer
