Wire Birthstone Angel Pin

July 20th 2010 13:25
Discovered a new gift/craft site recently. Really Long Link

They have a wide assortment of homemade gifts to make for your friends and loved ones. One that particularly interested me was the wire birthstone angel pins. I think these are absolutely adorable. (Full instructions can be found here.)

This crafting project seems really simple to make, and probably is quite inexpensive, but is a personal, unique gift you can make for someone you love. The supplies required are: brass wire, rhinestone, pearl seed beads, pin, needle nosed pliers, and glue.

This project could also be easily adapted to make Christmas ornaments instead of pins.

Be sure to visit AllFreeCrafts.com for more gift making projects.

Happy Crafting!

A New Find

May 25th 2010 14:14
I knew those ads were good for something! I clicked on one the other day for Pfaltzgraff, and discovered my new favorite website for gifts!

They have a clearance page (or pages) with absolutely wonderful buys on great items for the kitchen and/or dining table.

I just absolutely love dishes and other kitchen items, so I'm going to be sure to tell my daughter and daughter-in-law about this site. They can find gifts I'll love, at prices they'll love.

Be sure to check out Pfaltzgraff.com!

Simple Gifts

May 18th 2010 09:09
Trying to get ideas for this blog (since it's been quite a while since I posted to it) I did a search for "Simple Gifts." I was really surprised how many suggestions I got. Simplegiftsonline.com is a website that offers beautiful Christian gifts.

The Manuscriptures are absolutely gorgeous hand printed serigraphs of Bible scriptures styled after the manuscripts of the medievalmonks. They run about $60 and include print, mat, glass, and frame

Home Made Gift Baskets

December 22nd 2009 21:38
So, I know my last post was about NOT giving gifts. But I also know that we are all going to give them. We just need to try to keep the costs down on all the gift giving. A really fun way to do that is to make home made gift baskets. There are so many different ways to do this. Each basket can be personally made for the person it will be given to. You can even buy shrink wrap to make the basket look more professional.

Maybe No Gift is the Best Gift

December 3rd 2009 19:24
I've been doing a lot of soul searching about Christmas this year. I've become fairly well disgusted with the commercialism of the season. I've been disgusted with it for years, but so much more this year.

I recently started working at Wal-Mart as a cashier. I got my first real taste of "Black Friday," and it really made me sick. I have to admit, I've shopped on the day after Thanksgiving before. I don't remember ever getting to a store as early as 5:00 a.m., and I KNOW I've never camped out in a parking lot for a good place in line!

Name in Photos Gift

November 13th 2009 03:58
In my never ending quest for unusual gifts, especially those I could possibly make myself, I found something I found to be truly unique and unusual. You can get your name (the name of your gift recipient) spelled out in unusual photographs. I LOVE this. AND - for the photography inclined, it would be something you could do on your own.

Gifts Under $10 - Fuzzy Socks

October 18th 2009 16:08
I've been on the lookout for inexpensive gifts (because I don't have any money to spend this year) and I noticed these adorable fuzzy socks. They are probably worthless for wearing with shoes, but make great "slippers" for wearing around the house. At my local Wal-Mart, they are $3 for a pack of two - and would make a great gift for teen girls, tween girls, or even older women.

Doing a web search for them, I found a lot of them online, but not as cute as the ones at Wal-Mart. They are the cutest bright designs. But, any color or design will be just as functional

One of the best parts about gifts is the wrapping! Here's an adorable homemade snowman gift bag (and a link to the instructions to make it).

A Homemade Cleaning Kit

August 12th 2009 04:54
This is one I haven't seen before - not as a gift, anyway. But, it's kind of a neat idea. (Maybe THIS one will be for my new daughter-in-law.)

SeriousMoms.com has a homemade gifts page, and they suggest a Cleaning Book - a collection of recipes and suggestions for homemade cleaning supplies. This is a kind of novel idea

More Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas

August 11th 2009 13:43
Still on the lookout for homemade Christmas gift ideas. In my last post, I had found some recipes for homemade flavored coffees and teas. I plan to make several of these for my new daughter-in-law, and put them in a nice basket with mugs or tea cups. I might also use this idea for a couple of nieces.

An idea I really love is the cookie mix in a jar. This is one I've seen before, but most recently on the homemade gifts page of gifts.com. (they include a pretty picture
