Gift Ideas for the Cook in Your Life

November 28th 2007 14:01
Know someone who loves to cook? Chef's Resource has some gift suggestions for you.

Their Holiday Gift Ideas page lists suggestions according to price range and category, so you'll be sure to find the perfect gift for that special someone.

Many items in the $20 and under range caught my eye. Onion goggles ($18.95) are a novel idea (I've never seen them before). I hope they fit closely though. I wear glasses, and sometimes the onion juices get caught between glasses and eyes - watch out. I've learned to always peel onions under cold water - seems to do the trick.

Unless you're ready to spend some $$$$, don't bother with the "For the Person Who Has Everything" page. The price range there was $150 - $1500 (out of my range).

Still, this site has some really neat ideas for the cook, and the prices aren't too outrageous. If this is what you are looking for, it's surely worth the click!

A New Holiday Shopping Season Has Begun

November 24th 2007 18:16
Well, as we start a new shopping season, I find myself with a new blog to update.

I have to admit, I have found the articles from last year to be very helpful for my own gift-giving needs. Still, I think I'll enjoy writing for this blog. I've always been big on homemade, or at least personalized, gifts. I try to give each person on my list at least one item that I've either made myself, or personalized in some way.

Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart's traditional 5-11 am sale Friday after Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday shopping season.

Yesterday was the official start of the 2007 Holiday Shopping Season! Now that my kids are older, I don't rush out in the wee hours of the morning to get those great deals. I did, however, go to my local Wal-Mart - at 9 a.m. I was amazed at how calm it was, but could tell that earlier the store had been utter chaos. I sure didn't miss that part of it! There were only two items I was looking for that were already sold out, everything else was still plentiful at that hour. In fact, I spent less than 1 hour in the store --- I NEVER get out of Wal-Mart in only 1 hour! I was shocked. I went by my parents' house on my way home, and told them what was still available. They went AFTER 11 (the sale was supposed to be over then) and were still able to get many of the items at the 5-11 prices.

So, just a tip for those who like to get the bargains, but don't want to fight those early morning crowds -- wait a couple of hours (unless there is something you really feel is worth fighting over) and most of the good deals are still there, you don't have to fight the crowds, and you won't be as cranky because you got a couple hours of extra sleep!

Stay tuned for homemade and personalized gift ideas. (I hope my family doesn't read this, I don't want to give anything away!!!)

Cranberry Wrapping Delight

I’m not sure what is harder picking out gifts for everyone and their mother or trying to gift wrap everything that you have bought which has oddly size shapes or way to big to do anything with. Either way you need to find great wrapping to finish up the dirty work..

Stocking Stuffer ideas, make them laugh

stocking stuffers
stuff them

Now that we have our list and have checked it twice, we are ready to begin the race to the nearest mall for all the gifts needed to complete our holiday season. So why is it that stocking stuffers sometimes are the hardest things to find? We are not sure what is appropriate, how much to spend, how many to get.

The fight over the X-Mas toy catalogues

November 15th 2006 14:00
catalogues
have a look

It started last night when the first Christmas catalog arrived at home. My son was the first to grab hold of it and soon after my daughter was running after him.. They knew what it was and got their markers out ready to circle every toy imaginable. Sharing is not part of their daily vocabulary yet so needles to say the catalogue is now a variation of scribbles and lose pages with black circles around them.

Christmas shopping in July?

It's time..

It seems that merchants chose to display all their Holiday paraphernalia earlier and earlier each year. Let me put my swimsuit away before you start bombarding me with merchandise and nonsense I can’t think about yet, I say
