Photo Box

December 22nd 2007 07:21
I had seen these on some photo processing sites, and I thought, "I could make that!"

Wasn't difficult, just used a photo printed on my own printer, and ModPodge as a sealer.

I purchased a "natural" box at a craft store, and stained it. Once the stain was set, I used ModPodge to glue the photo to the box, and added about six coats, allowing each to dry before adding another. Finally, I used a fine grain sandpaper to smooth the finish, and topped it off with an acrylic sealer.

Good gift for just about anyone. Photo can be a loved one, or a photo of a special event, like the one shown.

Grandpa's Shaving Mug

I made this for my Dad last Christmas. It's a shaving mug with photos of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grandpa's Shaving Mug

I've seen photo mugs at different online photo processing sites, such as Snapfish.com. The problem with the ones I've seen, though, is that they only use one photo. I wanted to include 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. So, I made my own.

Since it was for a shaving mug, not a mug to drink out of, it was simple. I created a rectangle in PrintShop that would fit around a white mug. I cropped photos of each of the kids in different sizes and shapes, then layered them all over the rectangle. I printed it out, glued it to the mug, and coated with Mod Podge. After about 5 coats, I gently sanded for a smooth finish, and finished with acrylic spray sealer.

My Dad loved it!
